Basil Hoffman portraying Phineas Mossback

Basil Hoffman is committed to the role of genius British physicist Phineas Mossback – father of Alex Sparx, "The Man-App’s" protagonist. With roles in films such as "The Artist", "The Box" and "Ordinary People" Basil Hoffman is an American actor who has been described by the Los Angeles Times as, "the incomparable character actor," and of whom Robert Redford, who has worked with him four times, has written, "It is a wonderful feeling to trust an actor so completely."

As an actor who also teaches acting, he has coached and taught privately for more than twenty years, and, when his schedule permits, has been a teacher and lecturer in prestigious academic and professional institutions in New York, California, New Mexico and Louisiana, and internationally in Canada and Lebanon. His acting textbooks, "Acting and How To Be Good At It" with a foreword by Sydney Pollack and "Cold Reading and How To Be Good At It" (in its fifth printing), have now found worldwide audiences.
